Messezentrum Salzburg is an expo venue in the heart of Europe that can be reached very easily by car, rail, public transport, by air, on a bicycle – or even on foot.


Getting to Messezentrum Salzburg

  • Arriving by public transport

    Messezentrum Salzburg and the Salzburgarena are excellently linked up to the public transport network.

    • The no.1 trolleybus stops right outside the Salzburg Exhibition & Congress Center at the ‘Messe’ bus stop. During events there is also a direct trolleybus service to and from the ‘Salzburgarena’ bus stop.
    • The no.7 trolleybus stops right next to the Salzburg Exhibition & Congress Center at the ‘Bessarabierstrasse’ bus stop.
    • The no.8 trolleybus stops directly at the Salzburg Exhibition & Congress Center and the Salzburgarena and is the fastest way from the center to the P+R Messe. (Park and Ride Messe)

    Free bus tickets for Messezentrum Salzburg GmbH exhibitions

    Free public transport tickets can be obtained for the trolleybus to and from the expo centre for fairs staged by Messezentrum Salzburg GmbH. These free bus tickets can be downloaded from the respective expo website. Ticket only valid in printed form.

  • Arriving by rail and by bus

    Salzburg’s main railway station (Hauptbahnhof) is a key traffic hub for the western half of Austria and is fully integrated into the German Deutsche Bahn rail network. Taxis, public transport options and car hire offices are all available at the station.

  • Arriving on foot or on a bicycle

    Messezentrum Salzburg expo centre and the Salzburgarena venue are approximately 30 minutes’ walk from the old town, a 20-minute walk from the railway station, and are easily reached using the comprehensive network of cycle paths.

    Bicycle stands are available at the venue. 

  • Arriving by air

    Salzburg Airport W. A. Mozart is approximately 4 km away from Messezentrum Salzburg. Named after the world-famous composer, the airport was opened in 1926 and is now the second-largest airport in Austria. There are taxis, public transport options and car hire companies at the airport.

  • Arriving by car

    Messezentrum Salzburg and Salzburgarena are both located alongside the A1 motorway. They can both be accessed by leaving the motorway at the exit marked Messe. The route to the venue is clearly signposted in the city and on the motorway.

    Please note: Toll road stickers are obligatory on Austrian motorways
    Toll road stickers must be purchased and displayed on all Austrian motorways! These self-adhesive stickers can be purchased for 1 year, for 2 months or for 10 days and must be clearly mounted in the prescribed position inside your windscreen. Stickers can be purchased at most Austrian fuel stations.

    Arrivals without a TOLL STICKER: From Germany via the German A8 motorway:

    With 15.12. 2019 it is allowed for motorists arriving from Germany - without first buying the vignette - to drive on the highway directly to us from Walserberg to the fair! see: Exceptions to the MAUT in Austria


    1. Take A8 exit no.115 to Bad Reichenhall and follow the B20 in the direction of Freilassing
    2. Follow signs to Salzburg
    3. Drive straight across the ‘Salzburg Mitte’ roundabout (2nd exit) in the direction of Salzburg
    4. 500m after the roundabout get into the left lane as you come alongside the ENI fuel station
    5. Turn left at the lights in the direction of Messezentrum Salzburg (approx. 600 m)

Parking at Messezentrum Salzburg

Organisers and visitors coming to the Messezentrum Salzburg and Salzburgarena venues benefit from approximately 3000 parking spaces, 730 of which are in the multi-storey car park.

  • Parking fees and payment terms at Messezentrum Salzburg

    € 1.50  - Drive through
    € 3.00  - 1st hour
    € 2.50 - Every additional hour
    € 5.00 - Package for shows and concerts in the Salzburgarena on showing of a valid event ticket
    € 8.00 - Maximum daily fee at own exhibitions of Messezentrum Salzburg GmbH and selected guest events
    € 10.00 - Maximum daily fee at the Salzburg Dult 
    € 15.00 – Maximum daily fee

    Unfortunately, we have to inform you that € 500 notes CANNOT be used to pay for parking fees.

    Please note that credit card payments are NOT possible at the exit barriers. Credit cards are only accepted for payment at the automatic car park pay stations.

  • Park + Ride at Messezentrum Salzburg

    All parking in the city of Salzburg is subject to a fee (not only the ‘blue zones’). Park your car at the Messe P+R car park and enjoy special discounts on public transport taking you straight to the centre!

  • Charging stations for electric cars

    Salzburg Exhibition and Congress Center has its own e-car charging station run by Salzburg AG.

    Simply use the Salzburg AG ‘Stromladen’ recharging app, or make a direct payment when you recharge via credit card or Paypal. There’s a description of what to do at the charging station, which is clearly signposted at the P2 multi-storey car park. There are two sockets (Type 2 - Mode 3) with parking spaces. Special rates for events at the Salzburgarena

  • Parken
    Your Salzburgarena event ticket entitles you to park on the premises of Messezentrum Salzburg for the whole evening for just €5. Tickets cost €8 for daytime events that last longer than 4 hours.
    The manned car park pay stations are located to the left of the main entrance doors (accessible from outside), and in the main foyer. To avoid waiting, the parking ticket can be redeemed at the manned car park pay stations before the event begins.
    Please note that you will only be able to pay at the unmanned pay stations after the show.

    Our tip to round off your event: Have a soft drink or a coffee at the bar before you get stuck in a rush hour traffic jam!

  • Getting here on public transport
    A ticket from oeticket for the Salzburgarena can also be used as a bus ticket in Zone S.
